Sub-16 Match Report by Craig Monaghan

Évora 47 – 14 S.J.R.C.

No-one minds losing as long as they have played well.   However, it was the manner of this loss that was disappointing.  Yes Évora had two very strong  ball runners, however it was our lack of self-belief that cost us this match as much as the opposition.  Everyone making your tackles and playing for one another is a big part of our team culture and this was lacking, if not invisible, on Saturday.

No one was awarded player of the day, however Jordan Monaghan, Alec Gould and Mateus Peixoto at least worked hard to make up for other’s defensive frailties.

They say the measure of success is how a team bounces back from a bad performance.  We will see how much character and belief the squad has with another away game on Saturday.

We are still leading the points table by 1 point now and so still control our destiny and can win this championship by winning all remaining games first and then focusing on the 4 tries bonus points for the remaining games.

Boys - believe in yourselves and each other as that is what has got you through the tight ones to date!
