Sub-16 Match Report by Craig Monaghan

After a competitive but scoreless first half, we altered our strategy and started playing with a greater focus on territory, which paid dividends immediately. Scoring a forwards-dominated try we went ahead 5-0, but the game was turned on its head when Tin-Tin Bader showed a piece of individual brilliance with a chip over the opposition fullback - picking up the bounce to score. This broke the opposition's spirit and really turned the game our way. The outstanding players were Tomás Silva, Josá Maria Novais, António Espírito Santo. The stand-out player, however, with his best game of the season, was Alec Goold, whose pressure on the opposition scrum-half created mistake after mistake and enabled us to get on top.

Now with eight wins from eight matches we are well on the way to achieving our goals set at the start of the season. There is much hard work to do, but this team is clearly now playing for one another, putting the collective ahead of the individual and developing a special team culture. The enjoyment that they get from playing both with and for one another is plain to see.
