Sub-12B Convívio Report by Jan de Pooter

With perfect conditions it promised to be a great afternoon of Rugby for the SJRC sub-12 squad. With  more than 20 players present we were able to participate with 2  strong teams in the convívio nacional. The B team was still in the winning mood after the good results from our last home games. With this spirit the team proved to be unbeatable. In all our games everybody was switched on from the very start, no one missed a tackle, we were winning the rucks and played as a genuine team.

In our first game against São João de Talha/ADS we won with 2 tires against one with a try each from Patrick Frost and Theo Quay. Our next game against Cascais B was our best team play of the afternoon. With great passing we used the space of the pitch and we won with 4 tries. João Vaz Pinto ran straight to the try line and opened the score with his first try of the afternoon. The 3rd try of the game from Mateus was another great try. After receiving the ball he drove the Cascais players back and he pushed the ball over the try line. In our last game against C.P.A. it was hard work for the team but again with excellent team work and great tackles from Jasper Wiessing and Afonso Primo de Sousa, who played for the first time this afternoon as scrum half, we defended our try line very well. Ultimately it was João Vaz Pinto again who scored the only try of the game. With 3 victories in a row the team was happy and proud with their performances. A big thanks to all the players, you all did great. Thanks also to the parents for their great support.
