Mega Festa Report by Nick Coutts

Last Saturday's "Rugby Mega Festa" was a roaring success!

A fantastic, warm, sunny afternoon kicked off with a range of fun team-games, followed by plenty of age-group rugby matches and finished with a series of age-group matches played against the awesome JAGUARs!

The turn-out was excellent, with a strong showing of happy, enthusiastic supporters from both the Galiza & the St. Julian's Rugby communities

The purpose of the event was to celebrate the coming together of these two "sister" rugby clubs to form the joint Sub-18 team, the "JAGUARs", and so it was fitting that, whilst several people worked hard to make sure the day ran smoothly, one group that must take a lot of the credit for really making the day so special is the JAGUARs themselves! These boys were the life and soul, fully committed to their various tasks, interacting with and looking after their younger Rugby-playing peers and all the while clearly having a blast!

The climax of the afternoon was the series of games against the JAGUARs, with players from all age-groups getting stuck-in, (along with several very enthusiastic dads and coaches!).
It is testament to the JAGUARs' less predatory qualities that they managed to share the field with such a disparate group for an hour and a half, whilst ensuring no injuries occurred to any of their opposition

It's reasonable to expect that our sub 8's, 10's, 12's & 14's players who scored tries against the JAGUARs, who tackled them, and who were allowed occasionally to witness their awesome speed & skills "up-close", will have gone to bed on Saturday night and dreamed of playing Rugby for years to come, and of one day themselves wearing that green and gold shirt with the JAGUAR on its chest...

This was team-building at its best, and not just team-building, but, "community-building", as it's events such as this that act as the best possible advert for rugby.

So a BIG Thank You and Congratulations to everyone involved and in particular to the Mighty JAGUARs!

Bring on the next "Mega Festa"!
